ENGINEERING SERVICES DEPARTMENT
GOAL: To effectively implement, coordinate and monitor developmental programs in the district in order to reduce developmental inequalities through provision and maintenance of good and reliable infrastructure.
The Overall Objectives of the Engineering Services Department:
- Control and prevent uncontrolled fire related incidents
- Issuance of Businesses and industrial Infrastructure fire prevention certification and compliance monitoring
- Conduct fire prevention and control training for corporate and sensitisation workshops with the Public
- Purchase of plant and Equipment for the Council
- Procurement of equipment and tools for diagnostics, maintenance and repair of equipment
- Rehabilitation of Kitwe City Council’s infrastructure and roads
- Installation of traffic control system, traffic lights and solar street lighting at busy junctions along main roads in Kitwe
- Routine maintenance and construction of urban roads and restoration of previously tarred roads
- Maintenance and installation of road safety enhancement features to all urban areas (road signage, road marking and speed calming measures)
- Drainage system improvement
- Development of outdoor advertising policy and cityscape outlook improvement
