CITY DEVELOPMENT PLANNING DEPARTMENT

 

GOAL: To effectively implement, coordinate and monitor developmental programs in the district in order to reduce developmental inequalities by initiating and facilitating the physical and social-economic development of the City.

 

The Overall Objectives of the Development Planning Department:

  • Establish a Geographic Information System (GIS) Land Property Register
  • Use land management data capture
  • Classification of transit oriented development
  • Preparation of program for formulation of Integrated Development Plan (IDP)
  • Preparation of Land Area Plans (LAP’s) for recognised improvement areas
  • Demolition of illegal structures
  • Regularisation of some already constructed structures
  • Routine check on council buildings and prepare schedule for maintenance works
  • Re-establishment of boundary verification
  • Marking of roads before the areas are allocated
  • Connect land parcels to the National grid and digitising the boundaries for the land parcel
  • Environmental awareness, monitoring and pollution control
