CITY DEVELOPMENT PLANNING DEPARTMENT
GOAL: To effectively implement, coordinate and monitor developmental programs in the district in order to reduce developmental inequalities by initiating and facilitating the physical and social-economic development of the City.
The Overall Objectives of the Development Planning Department:
- Establish a Geographic Information System (GIS) Land Property Register
- Use land management data capture
- Classification of transit oriented development
- Preparation of program for formulation of Integrated Development Plan (IDP)
- Preparation of Land Area Plans (LAP’s) for recognised improvement areas
- Demolition of illegal structures
- Regularisation of some already constructed structures
- Routine check on council buildings and prepare schedule for maintenance works
- Re-establishment of boundary verification
- Marking of roads before the areas are allocated
- Connect land parcels to the National grid and digitising the boundaries for the land parcel
- Environmental awareness, monitoring and pollution control
